Driver extricated after 3 vehicles collide at busy Marion County intersection

Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon when multiple vehicles collided at a busy Marion County intersection.

Marion County firefighters worked quickly Wednesday afternoon to extricate an injured patient from a vehicle that had flipped onto its side during a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of N.W. Gainesville Road and N.W. 100th Street.

Multiple units from Marion County Fire Rescue responded at 2:45 p.m. to the intersection of N.W. Gainesville Road and N.W. 100th Street after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision. A 911 caller reported the crash and said that one vehicle had rolled over and a person was trapped inside it, a report states.

Sparr Engine Company #19 arrived on scene at 2:51 p.m. to find three vehicles involved with one person entrapped in a vehicle that was on its side. Additional crews from Anthony Station #1 and Orange Lake Station #9 also arrived to assist.

Three vehicles were heavily damaged in a Wednesday afternoon crash in Marion County that sent two motorists to area hospitals for treatment.

Fire crews worked quickly to stabilize the heavily damaged vehicle while paramedics tended to the patients. Firefighters then extricated the entrapped motorist within minutes by taking the roof off of the vehicle.

The patient was loaded into a rescue unit and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. An additional patient also was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, the report says.
