Victim left with scratches after brawl escalates over car keys

Kendra Ann Jones

A Citra woman was jailed recently after a nasty spat with her man friend over car keys.

The victim’s cousin called Marion County sheriff’s deputies for help and reported that 32-year-old Kendra Ann Jones was “extremely intoxicated” during the incident. The victim reported that Jones tried to take the car keys from him but denied that he was assaulted, a sheriff’s office report states.

Jones had left the residence on foot but returned later and allegedly caused another disturbance over the car keys. Deputies returned to the residence and Jones became “extremely agitated” when told deputies would not force the victim to give up the keys. She started walking down a nearby road and throwing things and refused to “separate without or calm down without the car keys,” the report says.

The victim’s cousin and father said they saw Jones go into the victim’s room, try to grab the keys and then punch and scratch him in the chest. Deputies observed several scratch marks on the victim’s chest, the report says.

Deputies attempted to place Jones in handcuffs and she “pulled away and tensed her arms.” She went to the ground and resisted arrest to the point that deputies had to physically place her in a patrol vehicle, according to the report.

Jones was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with domestic battery and resisting an officer without violence. She was released on $2,000 bond and is due in court March 17 at 1 p.m., jail records show.
