An Ocala man was arrested after claiming a victim who refused to have sex with him was going to kill him with a large Ka-Bar combat knife – a claim he later said wasn’t true.

Robert John Page, 73, eventually told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that the victim didn’t make any direct threats toward him and was never in possession of the knife. The victim said Page grabbed her by her left upper arm and attempted to pull her out of bed, creating a large bruise. She said she bruises easily and paramedics had been at her house a few minutes before deputies arrived, a sheriff’s office report states.

Page said he couldn’t remember what the victim was saying that made him fear for his life and denied ever touching her. He said her injury likely was caused by a past incident when she was waving around a knife and he had to hold her arms down to avoid being injured, the report says.

Page was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery. He was released on $500 bond and is due in court May 12 at 8 a.m., jail records show.
