James King “Butch” Owen

James King “Butch” Owen, 79, of Ocala, FL passed away at his home on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Butch was born in Savannah, GA to William and LeMonnie Owen. Butch is survived by his family Leona Owen, children Daniel (Darlene) Owen of Ocala and Rebecca (Steve) Rogers of Ocala, grandchildren Riley, Olivia, Brooke (Kamil), Brennan, Kinley, and Ryan. He is preceded in death by Kimberly Faith (daughter), LeMonnie Windham (mother), Lynn Owen (brother), and Fely Owen (sister-in-law).

Butch was the storeowner of Owen’s Young Fashions, formerly Martha Courtoy’s Children’s Clothing Store in the Searstown Shopping Center before beginning his real estate career in Marion County. He served as the President of the Ocala/Marion County Board of Realtors for multiple years. He continued in this field until retiring in 2017. His favorite past time was watching Daniel play golf and listening to Rebecca play the piano. All of his family brought immense joy to his life. He was very close to his extended family in Savannah, GA and they enjoyed sharing their lives with each other despite the distance.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Candler Cemetery in Candler, FL. Arrangements are being handled by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Ocala, FL (352)-629-7171.
