Marion School District and CEP team with local organizations to hire graduating seniors

Marion County Public Schools is teaming up with the Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership to encourage local organizations to hire high school seniors through a cooperative “Hire a Graduate” campaign.

The campaign was created to help high school students capture a job immediately after graduation. To start the process, the school district’s Career and Technical Education department is reaching out to potential employers to find local job opportunities for graduating seniors.

MCPS seniors were surveyed and asked which of three “E’s” – Enrollment, Enlistment or Employment – they will pursue after graduation. Of about 2,600 seniors, 699 students selected employment as their “E” from the Class of 2021 – nearly 25 percent.

Currently, 17 employers have advertised openings for new graduates to the CTE department and the CEP. For more information about registering job opportunities, contact CTE Coordinator Ashley Morgan at (352) 671.7212 or Ashley.Morgan@marion.k12.fl.us.
