Carmen Ann Schweitz, 71, of Ocala, FL, passed away April 29, 2021, at her home under the loving care of her family and Kindred Hospice. Carmen was born on November 29, 1949 in Easton, Maryland, to the late Paul and Kathryn (Bradley) Dawkins. She relocated to Ocala from Dunnellon in 1999. Carmen worked in the advertising industry as a graphic artist, and was Methodist by faith.

When we were kids, Mom loved fishing and camping on the Ocklawaha River. She also was known to cut a rug whenever the music moved her and she knew all the words to an Elvis Presley or Merle Haggard song when it played on the radio. She was known by her friends as “Charmin’ Carmen” because of her charismatic nature. Everyone who knew her knew Mom had the gift of art and creation as she designed numerous billboards around Marion County.
In her early years I would watch Mom airbrush everything from T-shirts to air boats. My brother and I spent a fair amount of time watching her make clocks out of cypress stumps and sell them at local fairs and farmer’s markets. My brother would often accompany her to install commissioned pieces that she had designed for friends and businesses. She had a great sense of humor and you saw that instantly when you were in her company.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jason Worth and his wife, Vicki, of Ocala, and Amy A. Struke of Ocala; her sisters: Donna Kimbrough of North Carolina and Lisa Freeman of Bushnell, FL; three grandchildren: Scott, Virginia and Jessica, and great grandchild Easton.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, on May 8, 2012; her sister, Noreen; and her brother, Chucky.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 12 noon, with Pastor Paul Giglio of the Calvary Chapel Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, beside her husband, Arnold. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, from 11am until service time.
