North Marion Middle Schools wins prestigious ‘Say Something’ Award

North Marion Middle School is one of only six schools in the nation chosen to receive the 6th Annual Sandy Hook Promise Say Something Award.

Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization trying to end school shootings and create a cultural change preventing violence and other harmful acts that hurt children.

The Say Something awards recognize the creative ways schools celebrate “upstanders,” students who speak up to get help for classmates that may be in crisis and acknowledge the trusted adults who keep students safe. These awards go in tandem with SHP’s national call-to-action held each March, known as Say Something Week.

Members of the school’s Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Club at North Marion Middle created and submitted their winning video, which is available to view at https://vimeo.com/527974180.

North Marion Middle School, which is located at 2085 W. Hwy. 329 in Citra, will receive a $300 prize, an award certificate, and worldwide recognition on SHP’s website and social channels. Winners were selected based on videos or slideshows submitted demonstrating student leadership, involvement, and program sustainability, along with the depth of activities students participated in during Say Something Week.
