An Ocklawaha woman was jailed Sunday after her bloodied man friend told Marion County sheriff’s deputies she smacked him in the face with a golf club.

The victim, who met with deputies at an undisclosed location on S.E. 24th Street, said he went to 49-year-old Darleen Connor Stroud’s residence in 18300 block of S.E. 62nd Place to retrieve his belongings and they started arguing. He said Stroud then struck the right side of his face with the golf club, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the victim was bleeding from a laceration on his right orbital socket/eyebrow region.

The victim said Stroud then left the residence and went to his parents’ home. He was treated by paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue and then completed a sworn statement about the incident.

Deputies later located Stroud at her residence and detained her. After being read her rights, she confirmed that she and the victim had been arguing but denied becoming physically violent with him. She advised deputies of numerous reported incidents of domestic violence where she claimed the victim was the aggressor, the report says.

Stroud also denied hitting the victim with any golf clubs. But she told deputies she does own a set of clubs and goes golfing when time permits, the report says.

Stroud was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. She was released late Tuesday afternoon on $2,000 bond and is due in court June 1 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
