An Ocklawaha man had a knife and brass knuckles in his pockets when he was arrested recently for allegedly contacting a woman he was he was ordered by a judge to stay away from after a prior domestic abuse incident.

Charles Lee Crawford, 36, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and violation of a pretrial release condition. He’s being held in the Marion County Jail on $6,000 bond and is due in Marion County Court on June 9.

The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies Crawford had left the location on his motorcycle and was possibly traveling north on 183rd Avenue Road. A deputy found him in the parking lot of the Pack and Sack store at 18200 E. Highway 40, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Crawford told the deputy he left the incident location after getting into a verbal argument with the victim. The deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Crawford said he was out on bond for a domestic-related offense against the victim and that he was wearing a GPS ankle monitor, the report said.

While the deputy was checking Crawford’s warrant and bond status, another deputy observed a knife holster on Crawford’s right side. When asked if he had any other weapons on him, Crawford said he had a knife in is right pocket and a pair of brass knuckles in his vest pocket. The deputy found the brass knuckles in Crawford’s inside vest pocket, according to the report.

Crawford had been ordered on Feb. 12 by a Leon County not to have any contact with the victim. He was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
