An Ocala woman was jailed recently after her scratched-up man friend claimed he was attacked after the two attended a party together.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on S. Hwy. 475 and when they arrived, they spoke with 31-year-old Arlene Vazquez-Perez, who had injuries on her neck and face that she claimed were from previous incidents. She said nothing had happened between her and the victim and said he and the deputies needed to leave her property, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim told sheriff’s deputies that Vazquez-Perez became “aggressive” with him after they returned home from the party. He said she grabbed him by the shoulders, scratched him in several places on his neck and face and struck him in the head. Deputies noted several small, fresh lacerations on the victim’s neck and face and a large swollen hematoma on his forehead “consistent with his statement,” the report says.

The victim also told deputies that Vazquez-Perez had struck his vehicle several times. Deputies noted three dents on the driver’s side of the trunk lid, the report says.

Deputies attempted to read Vazquez-Perez her rights but were unable to do so because she became resistant, the report says. She was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with battery. She was released on $500 bond and is due in court July 2 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
