Regal reopens Ocala location after temporary nationwide closures

Regal Cinemas has reopened its Ocala location after being forced into nationwide closures over the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regal Hollywood ScreenX & IMAX, located at 2801 SW 27th Avenue, has officially reopened its doors for business. After a brief reopening, the theater was temporarily shutdown this past fall as part of nationwide closures for the popular theater chain.

“In response to an increasingly challenging theatrical landscape and sustained key market closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cineworld, parent company of Regal, today announced that it will be temporarily suspending operations at all of its 536 Regal theaters in the U.S., as of Thursday, October 8, 2020,” read the press release issued by the company last year.

The theater chain has now reopened over 40 locations in the state of Florida and has plans to reopen additional locations in the coming weeks.

With Hollywood productions starting up again, new movies are making their way to theaters across the country. The Ocala location is now showing new releases that include Spiral: SAW starring Chris Rock, and Wrath of Man, starring Jason Statham.

Although Ocala Theatre 6 on East S.R. 40 has remained closed throughout the pandemic, Epic Theaters and Marion Theaters have been in operation for months.
