Widening of NE 36th Ave to four lanes nearing completion

The two-year widening of NE 36th Avenue to four lanes and bridge over the CSX railings in northeast Ocala is nearing completion.

According to a project status update from the Florida Department of Transportation, the $17-million project, which began construction in the Summer of 2019, should be completed by the end of this month. The report will be presented to the Ocala/Marion Transportation Planning Organization during their Technical Advisory Committee Meeting on June 8.

The update is part of a multi-project report from FDOT on road construction in the city of Ocala and Marion County.

The current widening project at NE 36th Avenue called for a four-lane bridge over the CSX rail line to improve traffic flow.

The eastern two lanes having been open to traffic since 2020. The western two lanes were opened to southbound traffic in May.
