An Ocala man was charged with aggravated battery after a pregnant victim claimed he attacked her over a Cash App dispute.
The victim claimed she was battered by 37-year-old Brett Myers and stated she was currently pregnant, and Myers knew, according to the sheriff’s report.
The victim reported an argument escalated over Myers using her debit card on his “Cash App” account. She claimed Myers became angry and pushed her onto the bed while forcing her head down. The victim claimed Myers then grabbed her throat and held her neck down to the bed. The victim stated Myers tried to take her phone away, but she was able to roll off and exit the shed, according to the report.
A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy reported he saw a small scratch on the victim’s nose and redness around her neck.
Myers claimed he never touched her during the argument and that he would never hit her, the report stated.
Myers was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery by strangulation. He was transported to the Marion County Jail on June 2 with a bond set at $2,000. A court date is set for July 7 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
