A Marion County Commissioner is encouraging all residents to visit the Vietnam Memorial at the Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park.
Commissioner Craig Curry, who represents District 1, made the comments during the June 1 meeting of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners meeting.
“I knew 7 of the 47 Vietnam veterans on that wall,” said Curry, who said the wall represented “a lot of personal loss” for he and others in the community.
“I want to congratulate the folks that did a lot of work in putting the pictures together and the background information that was contained on the wall,” said Curry.
The wall is one of the many memorials that honor fallen soldiers at the park.
“If you haven’t been out to the [Ocala/Marion County Veterans Park] to look at it, you’re missing something,” said Curry.
