The resurfacing on U.S. 441 from State Road 35/SE Baseline Road to State Road 200 is slated for completion by this fall.

That is according to a recent project status update from the contractor, D.A.B. Constructors, Inc., for road construction projects being managed by the Florida Department of Transportation in Ocala and Marion County.

In addition to the resurfacing, which began earlier this year, the project includes the following modifications:

Extend left and right turn lanes at various locations
Remove some of the existing on street parking in the Downtown area
Add bicycle lanes within the right of way where possible
Update and provide pedestrian features to meet current standards
Other draining and safety improvements as needed

The cost of the project is $15.7 million with the an estimated completion date of fall 2021. According to county records, some paving has occurred throughout the project and the contractor has been working on the lengthening and widening of the turning lanes.
