Ocala firefighters use high angle rescue to help civilian on roof

The Ocala Fire Rescue used their training of high angle rescue to help a civilian on the roof of Brick City Bicycles.

On June 1, at 1:20 p.m. Engine 3, Rescue 3 and Tower 1, were dispatched to 29 NE 1st Ave., where a person in distress was in need of help.

Rescue 3’s crews made their way to the roof to stabilize the patient, while Tower 1 positioned the ladder on the north side of the building. Crews secured the patient in a stokes basket and lowered the patient to the ground using an aerial ladder, according to a Facebook post made by Ocala Fire Rescue.

Marion County Fire Rescue and Ocala Police Department also responded.

The Ocala Fire Rescue firefighter crews are equipped to safely remove a patient from a roof, a trench, or any area with a slope of 60 degrees or more.
