30-year-old father of three killed in motorcycle accident

A 30-year-old Ocala father was killed in a motorcycle accident on S.R. 40.

Benjamin Carrasquillo, who was a father to three young children, was killed on Saturday, June 5, after he was ejected from his motorcycle in an accident with a 2016 Dodge Ram that was pulling a trailer.

According to an incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Carrasquillo was driving west on S.R. 40 and, before he completed traveling through a right curve a half a mile from S.R. 19, his motorcycle was laid down on its left side.

Carrasquillo, who was driving a 2006 Suzuki, traveled into the eastbound lane and struck the left wheels of the trailer being pulled by the truck. He was ejected into the middle of the roadway where he was pronounced deceased.

Carrasquillo previously worked at the Amazon distribution facility in Ocala. Family and friends have taken to social media in an outpouring of emotional posts, and a candlelight vigil was held for Carrasquillo this week.

“I will never get to talk to you again, never get to hug you. You’ll miss our kids growing up, their birthdays, their graduations, your grandkids. You will always be my one and only love,” reads a post from Carrasquillo’s partner of over six years, Joanna Marie Pena.

His family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses.

A memorial will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home (606 SW 2nd Avenue) on Saturday, June 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to honor Carrasquillo’s life.

The names of the other driver and passenger involved in the accident were not released to the public as part of Florida Highway Patrol policy.
