Juvenile tackles Ocala man while trying to protect his mother

An Ocala man was arrested after a juvenile reported he punched him in the face during a brawl while trying to protect his mother.

A juvenile victim claimed he was battered by 38-year-old Shane Williams after intervening when he heard his mother yell “Get your hands off me.” The victim said as he exited his room, he observed Williams arms’ wrapped around his mother’s body. The victim claimed in order to protect his mother, he tackled Williams and a brawl started. The victim claimed during the fight, Williams punched him in the face, according to the sheriff’s report.

A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy observed the victim’s lip and nose bleeding.

The mother claimed she was approached from the back and grabbed by Williams. She yelled “Get your hands off me” and confirmed her son tackled Williams in an effort help her, according to the report.

Williams claimed he was in an argument with the mother and said the son tackled him from behind. Williams claimed he never grabbed the mother, according to the report.

Williams was previously convicted of battery back in 2014, the report revealed.

Due to both victims’ statements and visible injuries, Williams was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail on June 10.

He was charged with two charges of domestic battery, driving without a license and possession of methamphetamine with a bond set at $52,000. A court date is set for July 7 at 1 p.m., jail records show.
