Shuttered downtown Ocala diner still looking for tenant

A downtown diner that closed its doors months ago is still looking for a tenant.

Dee’s Diner, which closed its doors at the beginning of this year, had a previous agreement with the city for a 10-year lease. That lease expired at the end of 2020 and the city is currently offering a new lease for bid through its contract portal.

According to city records, the initial lease term for the 1,931 square-foot restaurant is five years, with the tenant paying a monthly flat rate rent to the City.

The restaurant is part of the historic Union Station, which was built in 1917 and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. Both SunTran and Magnolia Art XChange operate out of Union Station.

The restaurant reserves one handicap parking space and 20 standard parking spaces, according to the scope of services listed by the city.

All bids for the restaurant contract must be submitted on or before July 15 at 2 p.m.

If you would like to find out more information or bid on this contract or others with the city, visit the Ocala Procurement and Contracting Office website.
