Ocala man shoots at neighbor over pool payment dispute

An Ocala man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after his neighbor reported he shot at him in front of his home over a disputed payment for building a pool.

On July 8, the Ocala Police Department responded to a call in which a victim claimed his neighbor, 64-year-old Joseph Gunsby, shot at him, according to an OPD Facebook post.

Prior to the shooting, Gunsby had paid the victim to set up a pool in his yard. However, the victim did not finish the job because of a payment dispute. Gunsby and the victim were arguing with each other outside their homes until Gunsby pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim, according to the post.

As the victim ducked and went back inside his house, Gunsby fired a single shot, according to the post.

When OPD arrived on scene, Gunsby was arrested. OPD found the gun and live ammunition that matched the spent casing on the ground near Gunsby’s front door, the post reported.

Gunsby was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
