An Ocala man was arrested for having marijuana in his pocket after he was pulled over for going 20 mph over the speed limit.
On Monday, July 12, while a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy was conducting routine patrol near Road 475, he observed a grey sedan speeding. The vehicle was driving 65 mph in a 45-mph zone, according to the sheriff’s report.
The driver, 21-year-old Eric Traynham, claims he wasn’t paying attention to his speed because he was trying to fix the radio. A K-9 arrived on scene to conduct an open-air sniff, according to the sheriff’s report.
The deputy claims Traynham became verbally abusive to him and uttered that all they were going to find is a little weed in his pocket. A search revealed a small plastic bag containing a green leafy substance which field tested positive for marijuana, the report stated.
Traynham was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $2,000. He was released on July 13 and charged with marijuana possession along with drug possession.
