An Ocala man was recently arrested after his former coworker claims the man went to his house and punched him in the face for allegedly calling him a “crack head” during an argument about a handgun.
On Thursday, July 15, a victim reported a former coworker, 31-year-old Ryan Merrill, had entered his house and punched him. The victim says he and Merrill were arguing over the phone about a “stinger” handgun. The victim claims Merrill had his tool and he wanted it back. The victim says he and Merrill engaged in a verbal argument over the phone via text messages. During the argument, the victim called Merrill a “crack head.”
The victim claims Merrill became upset and went to his house where he confronted him before he punched him in the face multiple times, according to the sheriff’s report.
The victim’s brother was inside the home and heard the commotion. The brother began to hit Merrill to defend the victim, according to the report.
A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy says he observed the victim to have a fresh red mark on his lip and dried blood on the side of his mouth when he reported to the scene.
Merrill says the victim angered him which caused him to go over to his house. Merrill would not answer questions regarding the punch, according to the report.
Merrill was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $15,000. He is charged with burglary with assault or battery and was released on July 17. A court date is set for August 17 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
