Ocala man arrested after cyberstalking, threatening to jeopardize woman’s custody over child

An Ocala man is being charged with cyberstalking after a victim claims he cut his wrist in front of her and threatened to reveal he is a sexual predator to her ex-husband so she would lose custody of her child.

On July 7, a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Village in Ft. McCoy in reference to a victim who was afraid to go home out of fear 36-year-old Ricky Spradling would be there.

The victim reported she had a temporary order of protection issued against Spradling issued on July 6 after he came to her home and he cut his wrists in front of her. Spradling was placed under a baker act after the incident, according to the sheriff’s report.

While Spradling was at SMA Health, he called the victim three times and the victim claims he stated, “when I get out of here, you’re done,” according to the report.

The victim claims Spradling has been cyberstalking her and said she is now in fear of her life, the report stated.

The victim showed a screenshot dating back to June 29 where Spradling commented under a Facebook post of the victim’s children stating “too bad you’re going to lose one” referring to her children, the report stated.

One screenshot revealed Spradling said “so why not take the only thing you want away… that way you can feel how I feel right now… is that what you really want?”

Another screenshot revealed “You want me to make you hate me so you will move past me? Do you want me to do it?”

The victim claims Spradling was referring to telling her ex-husband that Spradling was a registered sexual predator so that she would lose custody of her child, according to the report.

Spradling was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $5,000. He was charged with warrant cyberstalking. A court date is set for August 24 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
