OPD looking for suspect in shooting near Ocala Wetland Recharge Park

The Ocala Police Department is looking for a suspect in connection with a shooting that took place near the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park.

Ocala Police Department units responded near the intersection of NW 21st Street and NW 24th Road to reports of a shooting on Sunday, July 25.

According to a Facebook post from the agency, a drive-by shooting occurred around 7 p.m. One victim was grazed by a bullet, but the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, according to the post.

The shooting marks the third reported by Ocala Police Department over social media channels in the past week.

Last week, a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed at the Sutton Place Apartments.

Less than 24 hours later, another shooting took place at the Promenade Apartments in southwest Ocala.

That shooter, 19-year-old Jihad Elvy, was arrested on Friday.
