Ocala Cultural Arts Department seeking increase in office space with move to Concord Building

The Ocala Cultural Arts Department is looking to upgrade its office space and parking for staff with a potential move to the Concord Building.

The request will come before the Ocala City Council during its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 17.

The department is seeking a five-year office lease with Concord Parking, LLC, for space in the Concord Building, which is located at 7 East Silver Springs Boulevard. The offices would be located in Suites 404, 503, and 504.

According to city records, the office space is needed to accommodate the Cultural Arts staff. The facility has “adequate space to meet the City’s needs,” including the use of 12 parking spaces.

Rent will be $4,479 per month for the first year, with each additional year of the new lease maintaining a 3% price adjustment.

The city was required to pay for utilities and office cleaning at a cost of nearly $22,000 a year under the current lease. The new lease includes utilities, maintenance and cleaning and saves the city money, according to city records.

The Ocala City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Next month, the council will meet on the second (Sept. 14) and fourth (Sept. 28) of the month, as the city will recognize Labor Day on September 7 and host its general election on September 21.
