Florida Highway Patrol looking for driver in Levy County hit-and-run involving school bus

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a hit-and-run in Levy County that involved a Levy County School District school bus.

The incident took place Thursday afternoon along NW 70th Avenue in Levy County. According to an FHP report, a vehicle, which is believed to be a 2014 to 2017, gray Chevrolet Malibu, traveled over the center line of NW 70th Avenue and began traveling north in the southbound lane.

The driver of the school bus saw the Malibu approaching and evaded onto the west shoulder of NW 70th Avenue in order to avoid a head-on collision. The Malibu allegedly struck the school bus in its driver side with its side mirror.

The driver of the Malibu fled the scene northbound on NW 70th Avenue without stopping or leaving information.

According to the FHP, at the time of the crash, three students were on board the school bus. None of the students sustained injuries.
