Anthony woman arrested for ninth time, third in relation to battery

An Anthony woman was arrested for the ninth time, and the third time in relation to battery, after a victim says she attacked him when he tried to leave a residence.

On August 23, a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a home in reference to a physical domestic altercation.

The defendant, 39-year-old Jessica Batterton, says she and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation at the residence and claims nothing ever got physical between them, according to the sheriff’s report.

The victim claims Batterton was upset with him due to something the victim’s sister told Batterton. The victim claims while they were at the home, he indicated he was going to leave and claims Batterton would not let him. The victim claims Batterton then jumped on him and bit him on the neck. The victim says she scratched his arm when he was trying to get her off him.

The victim says things have been physical between him and Batterton before, according to the sheriff’s report.

The deputy observed redness and a fresh scratch on the victim, the report states.

Batterton, who has a prior battery conviction, was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with no set bond. She has been arrested a total of nine times in the past two decades, including 6 arrests from 2002 to 2017, one in 2013, and one in 2019.

She is charged with domestic battery and probation violation. A court date is set for September 21 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
