Ocala man arrested after allegedly attacking woman, sending threatening texts

An Ocala man is being charged with domestic battery by strangulation and intimidation after a victim claims he slammed her head on a car and tile floor before sending her texts threatening to kill her and her family.

A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a medical center in reference to a domestic battery by strangulation and sending written threats to kill.

The victim claims 40-year-old Quintin Sears pulled her ponytail and slammed her head on a car and tile floor during an argument regarding his misplaced keys.

The deputy reported he observed an abrasion in the corner of the victim’s left eye and a scratch on her forehead about an inch long. The victim also claims Sears had been texting her afterwards, threatening to kill her and her son along with burning down her mother’s house, according to the report.

The victim forwarded the text messages to the MCSO deputy’s department cell phone, the report states.

Quintin was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail on Sunday, August 22 with a bond set at $5,000. He is charged with domestic battery by strangulation and intimidation. A court date is set for September 21 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
