Backwoods Bash bringing BBQ cookoff, live music to Forest Community Center

The “Backwoods Bash” is coming to Ocklawaha next month.

The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department will host the event on Saturday, September 11 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Forest Community Center, which is located at 777 S Highway 314 A in Ocklawaha.

Backwoods Bash will feature a barbecue cookout competition, in addition to live music, a yard sale with a variety of vendors, and multiple prize giveaways.

Partial proceeds will benefit the Friends of Marion County non-profit organization that supports the Summer Camp Scholarship Program.

“We are planning a BBQ Cook-Off that is free to enter and $5 to taste and vote on. We will also offer games, prizes, and dancing for all to enjoy well into the evening,” reads a post from Marion County Parks and Recreation Department social media.

The event is free and welcome to all ages.
