A Citra man, who has been arrested at least 15 times since 1998, was arrested for the third time this year after a victim says the man hit her in the head with a hammer.
On August 22, a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a victim who claimed that over the course of three days, she was physically abused by 42-year-old Jimmy Gray.
The victim says she and Gray were arguing verbally before it turned physical. She says she was being attacked by Gray and picked up a hammer to defender herself.
The victim claims Gray took the hammer and hit her in the head with it, according to the sheriff’s report.
The victim says during a previous incident, Gray choked her and she bit him in self-defense.
The deputy reported observing bruises and a cut on the victim’s neck.
Gray has two prior battery convictions for domestic violence and has been arrested at least 15 times in Marion County since 1998. This is his third arrest in 2021, and his second related to battery.
Gray was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with no set bond. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic battery by strangulation. A court date is set for September 28 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
