Ocala woman arrested after allegedly striking longterm boyfriend with crowbar

A 28-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after allegedly striking her longterm boyfriend in the chest with a crowbar.

A deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded in reference to a domestic violence incident in northwest Ocala on Thursday, August 26.

The victim says that he and 28-year-old Cierra Helms had been verbally arguing before it turned physical. He claims Helms pushed him, causing him to fall, before threatening him with a crowbar and fleeing the scene.

After Helms returned to the scene, the victim admitted that Helms struck him with the crowbar and showed deputies a mark on his chest. The victim says he originally withheld the information because he didn’t want Helms to get in trouble.

Helms, who said she and the defendant have been dating for eight years, says she and the victim threw items at each other, but that they never struck each other. She denied pushing or hitting the victim with the crowbar.

Helms was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon. She was transported to the Marion County Jail and released on August 28 after posting bond. Helms next court date is set for September 28, according to jail records.
