An Ocala woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught through video surveillance stealing at least $1,400 from her former employer.
The Ocala Police Department was contacted by RideNow Powersports Ocala, a local ATV, watercraft and motorcycle retailer, in August in regards to a series of alleged thefts.
The store claims that 49-year-old Erin Meadows committed multiple thefts between July 10 and August 12. A store manager provided OPD with fake inventory returns and cash refunds that the store says Meadows created fraudulently.
During a review of video surveillance, an OPD officer observed Meadows systematically printing documents, visiting the business’ register, counting out cash and coins, and placing the money in her pocket or wallet.
There were at least 15 videos showing Meadows creating “fake” invoices totaling $1,418.80. RideNow estimates that over $2,500 was stolen in total.Â
Meadows was arrested on August 30 and transported to the Marion County Jail. She faces a charge of grand theft and her bond is set at $1,500. She is next due in court on October 5, according to jail records.
