25-year-old pedestrian killed by SUV on U.S. 441

A 25-year-old pedestrian was killed while he was walking this morning along U.S Highway 441 in Marion County.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that on Monday morning, around 7:30 a.m., a 25-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while he was walking along U.S. Hwy 441, just south of SE Sunset Harbor Road.

The man, whose name is being withheld per Florida Highway Patrol policy, was traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy 441 when he was struck by an SUV being driven by a 44-year-old Marion County man.

The SUV was traveling northbound along U.S. Hwy 441 when its front bumper struck the man and caused fatal injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The driver and the passenger, a 34-year-old Marion County female, were uninjured.
