Obituary for Essie Lou Hancock – In loving memory of a wife, a mother, and most importantly a grandmother
Essie Lou Hancock, 89, of Tullahoma, Tennesse, passed away on September 13, 2021
Born in Tuskaloosa, AL. to Milburn and Bessie McNeal on December 21, 1931, Essie was the youngest of five children. At the age of 20, she moved to Florida to start a family. She spent her life devoted to her children, grandchildren, and James Hancock, her husband of 59 years. In later years, Essie was known to host family gatherings at her home in Ocala, creating a tradition for younger generations to grow close-knit.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her children: Brenda Lou Ruth, Jerry Leonard Hancock, and Sandra Jean Bailey. She is survived by her eldest daughter Carolyn Bailey, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel, 606 SW 2nd Ave., Ocala, FL 34471.
