Marion County Fire Rescue personnel save five dogs from mobile home fire

Marion County Fire Rescue units saved the lives of five dogs this weekend after responding to a mobile home fire in northwest Ocala.

The fire took place around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 19 at a residence off NW 10th Place, according to a social media post from MCFR. The 911 caller reported black smoke coming from the residence, with the homeowner outside of the structure.

Meadowood Farms MCFR Rescue #12 arrived on the scene and reported both smoke and flames visible from the structure, while Engine #12 arrived on the scene shortly thereafter.

The fire was called under control by 3:17 p.m., according to the post.

Five dogs were rescued from the structure and Medic 58 was charged with their care. Along with other firefighters on scene, Medic 58 deployed pet oxygen masks to administer oxygen.

All dogs are doing well as of last update, according to the MCFR post.

A total of four adults, two children and the five dogs were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation, according to MCFR.
