Charles Moore McAulay, Jr. passed away Sept. 19, 2021.

He was born on November 1, 1939 in Gainesville, Florida. After graduating from Gainesville High School in 1957, he received degrees from the University of Florida in 1962 and in 1972. After serving in the United States Army, he came to Ocala to work with the Parks and Recreation Department. Realizing that working with children brought him such joy, he embarked on a lengthy career in Elementary Education, first teaching Physical Education and then as principal at South Ocala and Shady Hill Elementary. He was Deputy Superintendent of Education under Superintendent John Smith before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Monte Adkison, brother-in-law John Adkison, sister-in-law Cindy Alyeac(Mike), mother-in-law Mary Alice Adkison, and nephew Tyler Maeger (Powder Springs, Georgia).

He was an active member of the Ocala Elks Lodge. His love of children, animals, and the Florida Gators was only surpassed by his love of his large circle of close friends that he enjoyed being with. Anyone wishing to make charitable donations in his honor is requested to make contributions to HUGS (www.hugscharities.org) or Take Stock in Children. (pefmc.org)

Graveside service is at Barnes Cemetery, 2060 SW 87th Place, Ocala, Friday September 24 at 12:30 p.m. Parking is limited so carpool if at all possible.
