2,266 donors give $531,948 to Marion County nonprofits

The final tally for last week’s Give4Marion charity event shows that 2,266 donors gave $531,948 to Marion County nonprofits in just over 24 hours. 

In the end, Project Hope of Marion County edged out Interfaith Emergency Services for top recipient, generating $42,713. Interfaith generated $42,092 and both organizations received donations from over 70 different individuals.

The Marion County Literacy Council had the distinction of having the highest number of donors, with 256 individuals making a donation to the organization during the event. The nonprofit, which seeks to improve adult literacy in Marion County through tutoring and support services, raised just under $30,000 during the event.

At least 60 of the 75 participating organizations raised over $1,000 during the event, which took place from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, to 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 23.

Last year during the inaugural event, over 1,200 individuals donated more than $310,000 to 81 organizations.
