Ocala father killed in shooting, police looking for suspects

Ocala Police are asking the public for any information regarding the tragic shooting death of a 42-year-old father in southwest Ocala.

Early this morning around 2:00 a.m., Ocala Police Department responded to a shooting that took place near the 1200 block of SW Fort King Street.

According to police, 42-year-old Searron Brooks was found with a single gunshot wound to his chest. Brooks was trauma-alerted to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Detectives are currently investigating the homicide as an isolated incident and say that it is not connected to any recent shootings, according to a press release from the Ocala Police Department.
