An 80-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after allegedly attacking an elderly man who mistakenly grabbed her groceries.

On October 10, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a Marion County residence due to reports of a domestic dispute.

The deputy spoke with an elderly male victim who stated that he had gotten into an argument with Judith Ann Whitney.

The victim informed the deputy that he was preparing to leave the home and grabbed some grocery items that he believed were his. Whitney allegedly confronted the victim about baked beans and crackers that she said belonged to her.

Whitney attempted to retrieve the grocery items and a brief struggle ensued before Whitney allegedly smacked the victim in the face, knocking out his hearing aid.

The victim grabbed Whitney’s arms in an effort to keep her from striking him further, according to the report. Whitney allegedly started kicking the victim in the shins and groin, until the victim pushed Whitney into a kitchen table and exited the home.

The deputy observed redness on both of the victim’s cheeks along with the outline of fingers, and bruising on the victim’s shins.

Whitney was arrested and transferred to the Marion County Jail where she was later released on her own recognizance. She faces a felony battery charge and has an upcoming court date on November 9 at 9:00 a.m., according to jail records.
