Citra man arrested after shoving female victim through bedroom wall, throwing log at face

A 32-year-old Citra man was arrested after allegedly shoving a female victim through a bedroom wall and throwing a log at her face.

On Wednesday, October 13 around 9:00 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a Citra residence due to reports of a physical altercation.

Upon arrival, the deputy first spoke with Adam Hurteau, who advised that a female attacked him after an argument. The deputy noticed minor cuts on Hurteau’s arm.

The deputy then spoke with the female victim who also mentioned that an argument took place, stating that it began when she attempted to lay down in bed. According to the victim, Hurteau began pushing her before he walked out of the room.

The vicim says she began following Hurteau through the door and when he allegedly slammed the door on her hand, cutting it open.

This led to a physical altercation as they went down the hall and, according to the victim, Hurteau forcefully pushed her through the wall, creating a large hole.

Hurteau exited the residence and the victim followed him outside. After she told him that he had to take his dog with him, Hurteau threatened to kill the victim if she let the dog loose from the yard.

The victim says she began walking back towards the front door when Hurteau allegedly threw a log that struck her in the face, creating a cut.

It was at this point that she contacted law enforcement.

The deputy reported a two-inch laceration on the inside of the victim’s right hand and another on her bottom lip that were both actively bleeding. There was bruising on her right forearm and bite marks on her right arm near her elbow.

A two-foot long log was discovered by the deputy near the front door. The deputy also noted a large hole in the drywall in one of the bedrooms.

Hurteau admitted to a verbal altercation and indicated that he went into the bedroom to sleep in because it was empty for the night. According to Hurteau, the victim entered the room and began hitting him in the face before he shoved her away, sending her through the drywall.

He admitted to throwing the log and says he did so because the victim threatened to let his dog loose and “his dog is his life.”

Hurteau was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $1,000 bond. He faces a felony charge for aggravated battery.

A court date is scheduled for November 16 at 9:00 a.m., according to jail records.
