Orlando woman arrested after test-driving, stealing car from Honda of Ocala

A 45-year-old Orlando woman was arrested after stealing a car that she took for a test drive from an Ocala dealership.

On Tuesday, October 19, shortly before midnight, a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in an area near County Road 222 and County Road 235 in Wildwood.

The deputy spotted a grey Honda CR-V with dealer tags parked near County Road 222. April Daviette Orr stood outside the car and claimed the vehicle was hers.

Orr stated that she test-drove the vehicle from Honda of Ocala (1800 SW College Road) earlier in the day and that she was going to return the car “sometime tonight”.

She claimed that she was unable to return the car earlier because she did not have a ride back to her residence.

The deputy ran a search on the car’s Vehicle Identification Number and tag number, and the car had been reported stolen earlier in the day by the dealership.

Orr was arrested and transported to Sumter County Jail where she is currently being held on $2,000 bond. She faces a felony charge for grand theft.

No court date has been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
