Longtime Ocala architect Hal Thomas Reid has placed his custom-built home on the market.

The 1,820 square-foot home was built in 1974, and is located at 1247 SE 3rd Street.

The home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it includes an open-floor plan, a wood-burning living room fireplace, movable kitchen island, and a spacious courtyard.

Reid’s architectural career spans four decades. Career highlights include designing an 18,000 square-foot hexagonal space to house the city library’s collection, designing The Cascades on Silver Springs Boulevard, and designing several downtown banks.

In the early 1990’s, prior to Brick City Adventure Park becoming a public park, he built his architecture studio at the bottom of the lime-rock quarry. Remnants of the office are still visible from the boardwalk and quarry floor.
