A prominent sculptor representing Florida in a U.S. Capitol Building art collection is visiting Ocala on Thursday.
Artist and sculptor Nilda Comas is coming to the Marion Theatre (50 S Magnolia Avenue) this Thursday, October 28 at 1 p.m.
Comas recently completed the sculpture of civil rights leader and educator Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune that will represent Florida in the National Statuary Hall, a collection that consists of 100 statues representing all 50 states. Only two statues were selected for each state.
During this Thursday’s event, Comas will speak about her artwork on display in the nation’s capital. The event will also include a presentation of an educational film on the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune sculpture.
