Horse-O-Ween comes to Ocala Downtown Market this afternoon, causing road closures and detours

The second annual Horse-O-Ween comes to the Ocala Downtown Market this afternoon and will cause road closures and detours in the area.

The event is being held today, October 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the market, which is located at 310 SE 3rd Street in downtown Ocala.

The event is free and open to the public and features a variety of activities for children and families, including separate costume contests for children, pets, and horses at different times during the evening.

Trick-or-treating, carriage rides, and family photo opportunities will be available, and live music will be provided by The Lady in Black.

Food trucks will be on site and a meet-and-greet will feature different breeds of horses dressed in costume.

Temporary street closures will be in effect for this event.

The following roads will be closed effective today, starting at 12 p.m., until tomorrow, October 30 at 3 p.m.:

  • SE Osceola Avenue, from SE 5th Street to SE 3rd Street.
  • SE 4th Street, from SE Watula Avenue to SE Osceola Avenue.
  • SE Third Avenue, from SE 5th Street to SE 3rd Street.

The following road will be closed effective today, starting at 3 p.m., until tomorrow, October 30 at 3 p.m.:

  • SE/SW 3rd Street, from SE 1st Avenue to SE Watula Avenue.

Drivers in the area are encouraged to use the following detours:

  • Westbound – SE 3rd Street, south on SE Watula Avenue, west on SE 5th Street, north on SE 1st Avenue, west on SE 3rd Street
  • Eastbound – SW 3rd Street, north on SE 1st Avenue, east on E Fort King Street, south on SE Watula Avenue, east on SE Third Street
