Jacob Lee Dykstra Sr. died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on October 30, 2021, in Ocala, FL. Jake is survived by his loving wife: Jeralyn, of 60 years, 3 children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law: Sara Sleep (Bob Jones), Sheryl Gulick (Doug) and Jay Dykstra Jr. (Elizabeth). He was a loving and proud grandfather to Patrick (Madison), Brad, Samantha (Breyer), Alex, Jake III and Madison as well as a great-grandfather to Connor. He is also survived by his brother Richard, sister Grace and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Dick and Jenny Dykstra. Jake lived for 79 years and woke up everyday looking to put others before him. He will be remembered for his traits of decency, charity and compassion along with a wonderful sense of humor and boisterous laugh. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of America for over 40 years. He had a passion for outreach and community by working with the Lions Club of Kalamazoo, Portage Volunteer Fire Department, Springs Theater Christian Student Outreach and a founding member of CenterPoint Community Church. Jake attended Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan where he gained the knowledge he needed to have a successful career in business. He was an entrepreneur all his life and worked in a variety of fields in business before spending the last 40 years as owner of ABC Realty and Development of Ocala, Inc. Jake was passionate about his work but his favorite time was spent on the porch of his cabin with his wife in Tennessee, traveling with his family, classic cars, swimming, westerns and Florida Gator football. He was loved deeply and will be missed by so many. A memorial service will be held at Hiers-Baxley 910 E Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala, FL 34471 on November 11, 2021. You are welcome to greet the family from 10:00-11:00am. The memorial service will begin at 11:00am.
