Musleh, Dreyer victorious in Ocala City Council run-off election

After a tight election, the race for Ocala City Council Districts 3 and 4 is now over.

The complete results of Tuesday’s Ocala City Council run-off were released by the Marion County Supervisor of Elections as of 8:15 p.m.

In District 3, Incumbent Jay Musleh has defeated Ty Schlichter by nearly 600 votes. Musleh received 3,278 votes, while Schlicther received 2,692 votes.

In District 4, Kristen Dreyer has won after receiving nearly 300 more votes than Lori Martin Gregory. Dreyer received 3,116 votes and Gregory received 2,821 votes.

In total, over 11,900 votes were cast during the run-off election. Nearly twice as many people voted by mail (7,854) compared to the votes cast in-person on election day (4,053).

At the conclusion of today’s city council meeting, prior to the election results being finalized, Musleh took time to thank the city staff in case of a potential defeat.

“It’s been a wonderful nine-and-a-half years. This job is totally humbling, but at the same time it’s rewarding. And I can’t thank you enough for supporting this city and supporting this council. I’ve enjoyed it immensely.”
