Ocala Mall flea market hoping to reopen shuttered location

The Ocala Mall, a new indoor flea market, is hoping to bring new life to a shuttered location in east Ocala that saw a similar concept fail last year.

The new business plans to renovate the space at 3711 East Silver Springs Boulevard in order to open an indoor, air-conditioned flea market by March 2022, according to a social media post from the company.

The flea market will be located next door to Boulevard Billiards and near the Wawa at the intersection of NE 36th Avenue and S.R. 40. It is currently accepting orders from vendors who are interested in operating booths. Prices begin at $400 for a 10×10 booth.

That location is no stranger to the flea market concept. Last fall, Boulevard Market had hoped to reopen the location, which was the former home of Kmart. Although it successfully operated a food truck park, that market ultimately never got off the ground.

Ocala and Marion County have seen an explosion in new businesses this year. That includes the addition of another flea market nearby.

Mi Pueblo Flea Market celebrated its grand opening at 12180 U.S. Hwy 441 in Belleview, a location operated by Grumpy Jerry’s Flea Market for many years.
