Frank DeLuca YMCA offering Thanksgiving Day races, exercise classes

A southeast Ocala YMCA is offering Thanksgiving Day races and exercise classes to help participants achieve a healthier start to the holiday season.

Frank DeLuca YMCA located at 3200 SE 17th Street is hosting its Turkey Trot event on Thursday, November 25.

The event includes 5K and 10K races, an outdoor cardio cycling class, a Turkey Burner BODYPUMP class, and outdoor games for children.

The 10K race begins at 7:20 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 7:40 a.m., cycling class at 7:45 a.m., and BODYPUMP class at 8:30 a.m.

On-site entertainment will be offered throughout the day until 7 p.m., including post-race food and drinks, snacks from vendors, family-friendly activities, and prize giveaways.

All race participants receive a medal and shirt, and top race finishers also earn a trophy.

Registration is required, and there is a fee for the 5K race ($35), 10K race ($50), and both exercise classes ($35 each).

There will be no parking available at the YMCA’s main lot, but participants can park near the sports field. Off-site parking will also be available at Hillcrest Elementary School, Ocala Christian Academy, and the Health Department.

Non-runners are encouraged to wear masks and social distancing of at least three feet will be in effect for the event.
