Wild horse training competition trots into northeast Ocala, registration open

An upcoming northeast Ocala event will put each competitor’s ability to train wild horses to the test.

The 2022 Extreme Mustang Makeover hosted by Mustang Heritage Foundation makes its return to the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion (2232 NE Jacksonville Road in Ocala) on Friday, April 29, 2022, and Saturday, April 30, 2022.

The two-day event challenges competitors, both adults and youth, to train and establish trust with a previously wild horse in 100 days.

During the event, the trainers will show off the full journey that the horse has undergone, from the initial training to the days leading up to the competition.

Applications are currently being accepted through Monday, December 6. All approved competitors will pick up their assigned horses in Bell, Florida on Friday, January 14, 2022, and Saturday, January 15, 2022.

The event participants will be competing for $40,000 in cash and prizes.
