Reddick man arrested after heroin, marijuana found during traffic stop

A 51-year-old Reddick man was arrested after heroin and marijuana were found inside his vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Thursday, December 9, an Ocala Police Department officer observed a tan Oldsmobile sedan traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue with dark windows.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Family Dollar located at 990 NW 15th Avenue.

The driver was identified as Timothy Curtis McMahon, and the sedan also had a passenger.

According to the OPD report, the officer smelled marijuana and returned to the patrol car. The officer called for backup and observed the passenger pouring beer onto the pavement.

A second OPD officer arrived on scene and ordered McMahon and the passenger out of the sedan. A search of the vehicle was then conducted by the officer.

In the center console, a plastic sandwich bag was found with several tan oval-shaped pills weighing 11 grams which were identified as Cialis, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. Those pills field-tested positive for the presence of heroin.

Smaller sandwich baggies were also found in the sedan along with a small scale that had green leafy residue on it. That residue field-tested positive for the presence of marijuana.

In the sedan’s trunk, the officer located a plastic Maxwell House coffee container that was filled with several bags of a leafy substance weighing 95 grams that also tested positive for marijuana. One of the bags was labeled “Exotic Gelato” and the other was labeled “Ice Cream Glue.”

The officer ran a criminal background check on McMahon and discovered that he was found guilty of selling cocaine in 1989 in Marion County, and he was found guilty of the same offense in 1995 in Levy County.

McMahon was arrested, transported to Marion County Jail, and later released on $6,500 bond. He is facing felony charges for heroin trafficking under 30 kilograms and marijuana possession over 20 grams.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on January 11, 2022, according to jail records.
